Rhythms of Africa With African Drumming Workshops for Schools

VG Dance Workshops is delighted to introduce African Drumming Workshops, offering schools an exciting journey into the vibrant rhythms and beats of Africa. Our workshops provide students with a hands-on experience of African drumming, inviting them to explore the rich cultural heritage and musical traditions of the continent. Through interactive drumming sessions, cultural storytelling, and rhythmic activities, we aim to inspire students and foster a deeper appreciation for the diversity and vitality of African culture.

Exploring the Beat of Africa

African drumming is a dynamic and expressive art form that has been passed down through generations, serving as a means of communication, celebration, and cultural expression across the continent. From the thunderous rhythms of the djembe to the melodic tones of the talking drum, each drum carries its own unique voice and story. At VG Dance Workshops, we bring the spirit of Africa to schools, offering students an opportunity to experience the power and beauty of African drumming firsthand.

Our Approach to African
Drumming Workshops

At VG Dance Workshops, we take a hands-on approach to teaching African drumming, providing students with practical instruction, cultural insights, and historical context. Our experienced instructors guide students through a variety of drumming techniques, rhythms, and patterns while also sharing stories and anecdotes about the cultural significance of each drum.

Enhancing School Curriculums and Cultural Awareness

Our African Drumming Workshops align with school curriculums and promote cultural awareness by introducing students to the rich traditions and heritage of African music. By exploring the rhythmic diversity and musical expressions of different African cultures, we help students develop a deeper appreciation for the role of music in society and the importance of cultural preservation.

School Assemblies and Showcases

Our drumming workshops can be integrated into school assemblies and showcases, providing students with the opportunity to showcase their newfound skills and talents to their peers, teachers, and parents. These events create a sense of pride and achievement within the school community, fostering a spirit of unity and celebration of cultural diversity.

We had the pleasure of Vivian visiting our school to deliver a multicultural week of workshops to our infant's school children, nursery to year two. The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, Vivian was extremely professional and very knowledgeable about the events and the styles of dancing. We were so impressed with Vivian, that we then booked another workshop in the same term. Vivian, upon his return, again was outstanding. The children were very lucky to have been taught by Vivian.
